OnTRAC - Teaching and Learning Framework

Our Vision for Powerful Learning at TRAC

At The Riverina Anglican College, we believe that great learning is more than the accumulation of knowledge.
It is about shaping young people who are curious, capable, compassionate, and confident in who they are becoming.
In a rapidly changing world, students need more than content—they need the mindsets, habits, and dispositions that help them thrive in new situations, collaborate with others, and respond with wisdom and resilience.

This belief sits at the heart of OnTRAC, our Teaching and Learning Framework designed to strengthen learning across Prep to Year 12.

Our framework is built on the educational research of Guy Claxton in his Learning Power Approach, where students are equipped to become agentic learners. As a cognitive scientist, Claxton’s work is based on the importance of empowering students to develop a flexible, strong and supple mind, with productive mindsets, processes of learning and capabilities, that equips them in overcoming challenges.

Educational research consistently shows us that when students see themselves as active agents in their learning, they achieve more, engage more deeply, and develop the character and capability to flourish beyond school.

OnTRAC translates this research into a practical, whole of college framework that helps every student develop these powerful ways of thinking and being. It will guide our teachers in supporting students’ development of these capabilities and will equip students with the tools to access curriculum content at a greater capacity.
