On the evening of Wednesday 8 August the Open Boys Soccer team etched “TRAC” on to the Combined Wagga Wagga High Schools trophy again.
TRAC played a determined and youthful Mount Austin High School team in the grand final at Kessler Park. TRAC controlled the play for most of the game with Mount Austin having occasional periods of threatening play. Although TRAC controlled the play, we found it difficult to get the ball into the net. A number of shots in the first half failed to trouble or beat Mount Austin’s keeper.
TRAC came out from the half time break with some renewed vigour. At the ten minute mark, after a number of sorties forward, Hamish Antill found himself with some time and space outside the box. He loaded up and deposited the ball in the top right hand side of the net. The game continued in the same vein. TRAC still got forward, but weren’t able to score again. Mount Austin’s attacks were subdued by a tight back four. Our back four kept their cool and set a strong foundation all game. Our mid-fielders ran themselves to exhaustion and the forwards were always threatening.
Well done to all the boys who were part of the 2012 campaign.
