Mufti on Kokoda Day

Angus making a donation to Menari Primary School in 2011

A mufti day was held on Wednesday 29 August to coincide with Kokoda day.  Kokoda day is a nationally recognised commemoration of those whose sacrifice and courage defended the identity, freedom and independence of the Australian People. Students were asked to wear footy jumpers on the day in recognition of the ‘national sport’ in PNG: rugby league. Students raised $670  to purchase medical, educational and sporting equipment to be donated to villages along the track.

A website has been established by the Australian government during this 70th Anniversary Year of the campaign and for anyone interested in Military history or where the students will be trekking it is worth a look.  http://kokoda.commemoration.gov.au/

If you wish to make further donation of medical, educational or sporting equipment please contact me at Fiona.Foster@trac.nsw.edu.au or via the school office. I have an extensive list of items that can be donated.
