Performing Arts @ TRAC

College Musical

A Musical has been performed by students every second year since the College was established.

In 2010 we performed a Vaudeville show titled “TRAC Winding Back”. As we have a new Music and Drama building under construction in 2012, we plan to celebrate with a Musical production in 2013.

Choir

The school choir rehearses regularly throughout the year and performs at local Eisteddfods and at the College Presentation Night.

Band

A band program in conjunction with the Riverina Conservatorium began in 2005 and strengthens each year. It is aimed mainly at Year 7 and 8 students but is also open to older instrumentalists. Instruments may be hired from TRAC and also from the Conservatorium if required.

Term 1 (approx. 7 lessons) is an introductory period. Areas covered: care of instrument, first 5 notes and beginning reading of musical notation. Students are encouraged to complete the term and then decide if they want to continue.

Term 2 continues expanding repertoire and skills. Instrumental lessons are encouraged for all students to ensure continued progress. These lessons are provided by specialist teachers from the Conservatorium during class time and students are billed directly from the Conservatorium.

Terms 3 & 4 continue as Term 2.

Music Programme and Specialist Tuition

All students will gain a general experience introduction to music through the mandatory Music component of their syllabus. A programme of private instrumental tuition may be arranged through the music teacher. This tuition is provided by teachers from the Riverina Conservatorium of Music and may take place inside or outside of the regular teaching timetable. There will be an additional cost for individual tuition. These arrangements can be made through the Music teacher.
