Changes to Busabout Bus Service Term 1 2012

The development of a roundabout at the Avocet Street entrance to Estella will occur in January and February 2012. During that time buses will access the School via Coolamon Road. Morning buses will not be affected but for February the students will need to board the buses at 3.10pm rather 3.15pm.

Busabout wishes to advise Estella students and residents that the local school service will be affected by the pending road closure. New timetables for Town and School services for the period of the closure will be issued shortly. More information is available from Busabout website at www.fearnes.com.au
or their office on 6921 2316.

Bus Pass Information

From 2008, continuing students are asked to keep their current bus passes for next year.

All new students will need to complete an application for school bus travel and return it to the school office. These forms will be issued at the Orientation Day for new Year 7 students each year.
Bus passes will be routinely issued during the first week of the school year from the College office. Travel on school buses is permissible without a bus pass for the first two weeks of school until new passes have been issued to students. New bus passes need to be issued whenever the student changes address. Information on school bus timetables is obtainable from Fearnes on 6921 2316.

Private Vehicle Conveyance Subsidy

Where there is no public transport available parents can apply for a subsidy towards transporting students to school or to the nearest bus stop by private vehicle. This applies only where the nearest transport pick-up point is at least 1.6 kilometres from home. To be eligible travel must be made from home to school or transport pick-up point both in the morning and afternoon. Application forms for private vehicle conveyance are available from the school.

Driving to School Policy

The following steps need to be taken and agreed to before students are permitted to drive to and from the College.
• They have written permission from a parent or guardian
• Any student travelling in the car of another student can only do so with the written permission of both parents/guardians (ie the driver’s and the passenger’s). The College recommends that siblings be permitted and, at most, one other authorised person.
• All vehicles should be roadworthy with each occupant having their own seatbelt.
• Vehicles must not leave the College during day without the written authorisation of the Principal, Deputy Principal or Head of Welfare.
